Garden Update!

Remember the cucumber from a few days ago? I could be wrong,
but I think this is the same cucumber. It's growing very quickly!

The first tomato! It's rather small, but a tomato's a tomato!

It looks like we have a slight bug problem, but when I cut open the
tomato, it wasn't as bad as it looked on the oustside.

Tomato on toast! The tomato was just big enough for one piece of toast.
(It was delicious, in case you were wondering.)

Summer Fun: Kittens, Kansas, & Gardening!

We moved into a bigger apartment in April, and we can have pets! So we got a couple kittens in May. Roger is the white kitten. He was up at Jeff's parents, having a hard time with an eye and respiratory infection. So we took him home to get him better. I got Lucy, the tortoiseshell, a few days later to keep Roger company. They have been fun to have around, except when they wake you up at 3 am, or when they pee on the carpet or bed. They haven't had any accidents lately though, so we hope that's over.

Roger up at Jeff's parents' place the night we brought him up. He's so tiny!
Lucy's first day. She was rather wide-eyed and skittish for a couple days.
She wasn't sure about Roger, but they are friends now.
Trying to decide if she dares go near Roger.

These are current pictures of Roger & Lucy. They have at least tripled or quadrupled in size.
The kittens really like this empty Ramen box. They will lie on top of it,
go inside it, or stuff the other kitten inside :)
I don't know if Roger wants in, or if he wants to keep Lucy inside...
When they were littler, they both fit inside. Not so much anymore.
Lucy sleeping. She's gotten more orange as she's gotten bigger.
Roger looks about the same, just bigger.

For July Fourth, we went to the show at Utah State. Kansas was this year's band! They were a fun band to listen to. We've had good bands the last two years; we'll have to see who comes next year!

Our apartment complex has a community garden where we can rent plots for the summer. We planted the first week of June, which is supposed to be the safe time to plant. We had a few cold nights a couple weeks after we planted, and one tomato plant didn't do too well. So we moved it to a pot on our porch, and planted a new one. Most of these pictures are from two weeks ago, need to take new ones, because everything is much bigger now.

Corn and cucumbers. Jeff is particularly excited for these. Most of the
corn is taller than me now, and you can't even see the ground under the
cucumber plants.

Peas! They are very tasty. We have been able to eat some this week.
Our three tomato plants. They they are also a lot bigger now, and have
several more tomatoes.  One is even orange now!
Our first cucumber flowers! We have a ton now, and are seeing several
small cucumbers.
A cucumber! I took this picture a couple days ago. It's the size of my
pinkie, about 2 inches long. We just hope the weather will cooperate
and give us time for the cucumbers to ripen.

Catching Up...

I'm finally catching up on my blog posts. Don't worry, this one is only 7 months behind! Here are some pictures I took at Christmas down in Pine. Most of them are of E.

Let's open some presents!

Here Sarah, your presents look boring. I'll share one of mine :)

Just one more to pull off!

Now I'll just throw this thing away...

Finally! I can play with this awesome stick now!

Look Sarah! I'm a Christmas present!

Whoops! The paper fell down!

It's ok, I've got it now. But where did I put the tape?

Yay, I get to open more presents!

Cool! Noah's ark! Let's wrap it up again, and then unwrap it!

On second thought, it might be more fun to just play with!

We got some footie pjs for Sarah. I wish I would have gotten a
picture of when she first opened them. She was pretty excited.
